Fellow Department 56 Collectors – NCC Members
I began my collection of Department 56 lighted houses 25 years ago. I
watched it grow from “The Original Shops of Dickens’ Village” to a
multiplicity of villages with details that are beyond my imagination.
Yet today, I carry with me that same passion when I design city streets,
meandering walkways and snow-laden cobblestone roads.
I still get that same rush as I did then when I flip the switch that
electrifies and brings life to my villages. One of my favorite pastimes
is to stand among my villages with the lights low and the lighted houses
twinkling. It continues to fill my heart and lights my senses with warm
holiday memories of my childhood.
It is my hope to share these emotions with other collectors new and old.
And without a doubt, one of the best and most efficient ways of
accomplishing this is through the NCC. There are thousands of collectors
throughout the country who are not aware of the many benefits afforded
them through the NCC. Recruiting and bringing these collectors into the
NCC can be and should be a reciprocal process whereby these newly found
individuals can bring growth and strength to our organization. Likewise,
the NCC can provide these collectors with a wealth of opportunities for
creating holiday displays and for forming lifelong friendships. That is
my purpose in placing my name in nomination for the NCC Vice President’s
office.
