The following is part of Melinda Seegers, Manager, Consumer Services
of Department 56 presentation in awarding the 2008 Collector of the Year award.
"Now I'd like to tell you a little about the recipient of the first "Collector
of the Year Award".
Like many of our nominees - the words dedicated personable, willing and friendly
are used to describe our recipient. The person who wrote the nomination
used the words "difference maker", an infectious attitude, sense of humor, care
and concern for fellow members, selfless passion for the Villages. The
recipient has been on the local board, served on the executive committee for a
regional gathering, coordinate display efforts for their local Ronald McDonald
House for both Halloween and Christmas. This recipient is the first to
arrive and the last to leave, and as I understand pretty terrific in the
kitchen.
A club member said, "they have made a difference in our club, and more
importantly, in our lives."
Our first recipient is a couple, we had several couples nominated.
CONGRATULATIONS TO RICHARD AND SHARON WYLLIE of the Ducky 56ers, in suburban
Chicago, IL.
Sharon and Richard will receive a fantastic package of Department 56 goodies
including many 56 logo items and personally signed Dickens Village piece.
