To the Membership of the NCC
When a small group of individuals embark upon the idea of creating a new
Department 56 collectors club, it is always a challenge. Adding to that
challenge is the question of what direction the club might take.
In 2004, The Nifty Fifty-Sixers Celebration Club was founded and has
continued to grow since its inception. It is now a contributing
organization, supporting charities while promoting the fun and joy of
collecting those small lighted houses. And most recently, the Nifty
Fifty-Sixers played a substantial role in the recent Spooktacular Region
8 Roundup by assisting the San Antonio and Austin Clubs in this very
successful gathering of collectors from throughout the country.
New clubs and successful national events are not possible without the
help of individuals like Mike Goode. He possesses the energy,
enthusiasm, work ethic and creativity it takes to organize and plan such
events. His ideas and hard work have helped make our organization
successful and a supportive entity among local charities. Mike has
served as vice president of programs and secretary of the Nifty
Fifty-Sixers and has coordinated the Holiday Tour of Homes for the past
three years.
In addition to his ability to plan and organize club activities, he
possesses the creativity and resourcefulness to bring unusual and
worthwhile programs to our club. Over the past years, his programs have
ranged from egg hunts in our sponsor’s retail store, guest speakers, and
2 trips to DFW International Airport to greet returning troops from Iraq
and Afghanistan.
Mike is goal-oriented and is constantly reviewing and evaluating our
club’s activities and its direction. He believes in “what gets measured
gets done.” Our club has seen both Mike’s talents put to work and the
results of his endeavors, and it would be beneficial to collectors clubs
throughout the country to have him utilize those skills of organizing
and planning as the next NCC Vice President.
